Author:Weston Graybill
Wed, Aug 14th, 2019 9:39:00 pm -
Station 42 was alerted for an outbuilding fire assisting 52 in the 1100 block of Gap Road. County soon upgraded the assignment to a barn after gaining more information about the size of the structure. Chief 52 went responding and soon added 4 more tankers. Truck 42, Rescue 42, Engine 421 and Squad 421 went enroute with a total 25 members. Truck 42 was the third arriving apparatus and quickly put the master stream in operation. Engine 421 arrived with the rescue right behind. Rescue crews were sent to the barn to assist in pulling apart hay. Engine set up a draft site at the small pond at the end of the lane to supply the scene. Rescue was let go after one hour into the fire due to not having a standby in station. Due the the extensive amount of hay that needed to be removed to extinguish the fire crews operated on scene for 7 hours. Engine 421 had 35' of hard suction into the pond to supply the scene with a constant water.
