Assist Station 4-4

May 20, 2008 - At
15:00 hrs, Rescue 4-2 was dispatched to assist Station 4-4 (Intercourse) for a
vehicle accident with possible entrapment at Route 340 and New Holland Rd. The Rescue went enroute shortly
thereafter with 10 volunteers, and the Truck followed with 5. Chief 4-4 arrived on the scene
and reported a tractor trailer versus a car with 3 patients trapped. Chief 4-4 then requested a 2nd rescue,
this brought Rescue 3-9 and Squad 3-9 (New Holland) to the scene. The first patient was removed by first
arriving fire and medical personnel.
The Rescue's crew was given the assignment to remove the 2nd patient
from the car. This was accomplished
by removing the roof of the car and packaging and removing the patient. The assignment was complicated due to
the car being on its side with the roof up against the road bank. Crews from Station 3-9 were able to
extricate the truck driver by removing the drivers side door of the tractor trailer. Units from 4-2 and 3-9 were made available
shortly after extrication, while 4-4 crews remained on the scene until the
accident was cleared from the roadway.

building and entered the residents.
Short work was made in finding the chimney blockage which was cleared
and the house was ventilated.

5100 block of Route 30. This
accident was reported to be serious in nature, with one vehicle into a wall and
the occupant unconscious. Chief

personnel deemed it necessary to remove the "B" post and rear door to
remove the patient properly. The
task was completed quickly, with the Engine and Squad crews assisting with
lighting and fluid control.
After the scene had been cleaned up and
crews were waiting on a tow truck, the station was again dispatched for a
vehicle accident. It was reported
to be with entrapment and in the 700 block of Mount Vernon Rd. The Rescue, Engine, and Squad all
responded from the first accident scene.
