Motorcycle Accident

June 30, 2008 – Rounding out an already-busy June, the Rescue and Squad were tapped for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle at the intersection of Strasburg Rd. and Rt. 41.  The Rescue responded in under one minute with a full crew of 10 personnel.  Upon arrival, on-board EMTs began patient care, while the remainder of the crew secured hazards and traffic.  The patient was packaged for transfer to EMS, and the scene was cleaned up shortly thereafter.  Crews were on location for approximately 30 minutes.

 

 

48 Hours

June 29, 2008 – On Saturday morning, the Gap Volunteers met at NullÕs Towing to follow-up and practice on various vehicle rescue techniques that have been reviewed the last few weeks.  Led by Captain 4-2-3 (C. Beiler), the group focused on vehicle stabilization, use of hydraulic tools and various hand tools.  Shortly after completing their exercise, the alarm was struck for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Rt. 772 and Amish Rd.  Squad 4-2 responded, along with the Engine and Truck, joining Engine 4-7-1 (Paradise) who was covering for Rescue 4-2.  Early Sunday morning brought another accident, this time with Entrapment.  Assisting Station 4-9 (White Horse), the Rescue responded to assist feverishly with extrication.  Truck 4-2 also responded to bring more hydraulic equipment and manpower to assist.  In the early Sunday evening, the Rescue and Squad also responded to a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.  Crews assisted with patient packaging and securing the scene.  From that scene, the Squad left responded with two EMTs to Newport Ave. for a medical assist, aiding Ambulance 4-9 (White Horse).

 

 

 

Third Annual ÒKids CampÓ A Success

June 14, 2008 – The third-annual ÒKids CampÓ, held at the Christiana Fire Company was a huge success.  Several members from the Gap Fire Company, led by Engineer 4-2B (Joe Kennedy), assisted several local stations with the event.  Children ranging in ages from 5 to 16 years old participated in the even this year. On Friday evening, the children were able to watch a vehicle fire and a bus accident involving extrication.  On Saturday, the kids participated in interactive workshops led by Christiana Fire Company, Gap Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire & Ambulance, Pomeroy Fire Company, Atglen Fire Company, Cochranville Fire Company, and Christiana Ambulance.  Kids also enjoyed informative demonstrations from Ephrata Police, Middlecreek Search & Rescue. Thanks to the participating members from Gap, including FF/EMT Evan Davies, FF/EMT Jake Dolbow, FF Dylan Newman, FF John O. Stoltzfus, and Engineer 4-2A (Glen Beiler).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Storms Pummel Lancaster County

June 10, 2008 – A robust storm system muscled its way through Lancaster County on Tuesday evening, keeping emergency responders throughout the county quite busy.  Truck 4-2 was dispatched to assist Station 6-3 (Lafayette) for a dwelling in East Lampeter. While en route, the Truck was redirected to another dwelling fire in the same township, this time assisting Station 4-10 (Witmer).  While returning from this call, the Truck was dispatched to East Earl Township for a building fire, assisting Station 3-9 (Liberty New Holland).  Rescue 4-2 joined the truck shortly thereafter when the assignment was upgraded to a 2nd alarm.  The Rescue was then re-assigned to a water rescue in the 700 Block of N. Railroad Ave. for a vehicle caught in rising water.  Crews were busy for several hours

 

 

A HeroÕs Farewell

May 30, 2008 – [as excerpted from DailyLocal.com]  Pomeroy firetruck with the casket of Fire Chief Doug McGuigan passes under ladder trucks in a funeral processsion.  McGuigan was a 42-year life member of Pomeroy Volunteer Fire Company and had served in many ways. He held every office in the fire company including president.  He was in his third tour as fire chief at the time of his death. Assist Station 4-4 on Accident with Entrapment

May 20, 2008 - At 15:00 hrs, Rescue 4-2 was dispatched to assist Station 4-4 (Intercourse) for a vehicle accident with possible entrapment at Route 340 and New Holland Rd.  The Rescue went enroute shortly thereafter with 10 volunteers, and the Truck followed with 5.   Chief 4-4 arrived on the scene and reported a tractor trailer versus a car with 3 patients trapped.  Chief 4-4 then requested a 2nd rescue, this brought Rescue 3-9 and Squad 3-9 (New Holland) to the scene.  The first patient was removed by first arriving fire and medical personnel.  The Rescue's crew was given the assignment to remove the 2nd patient from the car.  This was accomplished by removing the roof of the car and packaging and removing the patient.  The assignment was complicated due to the car being on its side with the roof up against the road bank.  Crews from Station 3-9 were able to extricate the truck driver by removing the drivers side door of the tractor trailer.  Units from 4-2 and 3-9 were made available shortly after extrication, while 4-4 crews remained on the scene until the accident was cleared from the roadway.

 

 

No Rest For The Weary

The Gap Volunteers have been quite busy with over 20 calls in just seven days, along with preparing for our annual spring ham and oyster supper.  Crews were busy with quite a few non-service calls, including assisting Chester County Station 28 (Parkesburg) with an automatic alarm, Station 3-9 (Liberty Fire Co.) with a reported building fire, assisting the public with vehicle lockouts, etc.  Highlights of other calls include:

April 15, 2008 – Rescue 4-2 was dispatched to assist Chester County Station 27 (Cochranville) for a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Route 10 and Guntry Rd.  Crews were on location for approximately 20 minutes assisting with vehicle extrication and patient packaging. 

April 17, 2008 – A call was struck in the 800 block of Brackbill Rd.  The Engine and Truck hit the streets and under the direction of Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) immediately laddered the building and entered the residents, as fire was showing from the chimney.  Crews also extinguished some fire extension into the structure.  An additional alarm was struck for a dumpster fire at the 5000 block of Lincoln Hwy.  Deputy 4-2 (Wenger) arrived on location to find a dumpster fire well off.  Engine 4-9-1 (White Horse) was dispatched to cover for Engine 4-2-2 and arrived on location to extinguish the fire.  Engine 5-1-1 (Bart Fire Co.) covered the 4-2 house during these calls.

 

April 18, 2008 – The Gap Volunteers were once again dispatched to a chimney fire, this time on the 1000 block of Gap Rd.  The Engine, Truck, and Rescue all hit the streets within moments and were the first pieces to arrive on scene.  Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) established command and crews quickly laddered the building and entered the residents.  Short work was made in finding the chimney blockage which was cleared and the house was ventilated.

      

April 19, 2008 – Sunday was our annual spring ham & oyster supper.  We had great weather and great food.  Lots of preparation goes into our supper, and we would like to extend a sincere thanks to all our community help and patronage, as well as those who come from miles away to visit us!

 

 

Four Call Tuesday

April 8, 2008 – Tuesday was a busy day for the Gap volunteers.  It started late in the afternoon rush hour with a three vehicle accident involving a box truck in the 5200 block of Text Box:  Route 30.  That incident was followed by a trash fire at 8:45 in the evening. 

 Just after the volunteers had returned home for the evening, the station was dispatched to a vehicle accident in the 5100 block of Route 30.  This accident was reported to be serious in nature, with one vehicle into a wall and the occupant unconscious.  Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived on the scene and confirmed the report.  After the Rescue arrived, medical personnel deemed it necessary to remove the "B" post and rear door to remove the patient properly.  The task was completed quickly, with the Engine and Squad crews assisting with lighting and fluid control.

Text Box:  After the scene had been cleaned up and crews were waiting on a tow truck, the station was again dispatched for a vehicle accident.  It was reported to be with entrapment and in the 700 block of Mount Vernon Rd.  The Rescue, Engine, and Squad all responded from the first accident scene.  Chief 4-2 arrived on location and reported one vehicle on its side with no entrapment.  The patient was able to remove himself from the vehicle and fled the scene.  The patient was then later apprehended by the PA State Police, and was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.  After cleaning up the scene and assisting the State Police, all crews returned to the station well after midnight.

 

Three Vehicle Accident on Rt. 41

April 1, 2008 – Just after 4 PM on Tuesday, the Gap volunteers were dispatched for an accident at the intersection of Routes 41 and 741.  Deputy 4-2 (Wenger), who had witnessed the accident, immediately gave an update to County Communications of a 3 vehicle accident involving 2 tractor trailers and 1 mini van with a total of 6 patients.  The Rescue and Squad arrived shortly thereafter and assisted EMS and started hazard control.  The trucks came to rest in the middle of the intersection, completely blocking Route 741 and two lanes of Route 41.  Station 5-2 (Christiana) and Station 4-5 (Kinzer) Fire Police were dispatched to assist with traffic control.  Crews were on the scene for almost 2 hours, taking care of cleanup and traffic control while the trucks were being removed by personnel from Null's Towing of Cochranville.  Thanks to all who assisted on this call.

 

 

Fatal House Fire on Good Friday

March 21, 2008 – In the morning of Good Friday, the alarm was struck for a dwelling fire with possible entrapment in the 200 block of Oceola Mill Rd., assisting station 4-4 (Intercourse). Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived on location, reporting a working house fire, and confirming entrapment.  First-arriving crews, including Truck 4-2 immediately laddered the dwelling, and attempted a primary search of the interior, while Command 4-4 had a second alarm struck. The EMS sector was established quickly and worked efficiently to prepare for the rescue of the victims.  However, heavy fire load and the threat of a floor collapse hindered the work of the interior crew.  Crews made short order of knocking the fire, but unfortunately, the elderly occupants succumbed to the fire. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Collapse Training

March 15, 2008 – Led by Captain 4-2-2 (Rathbun) and Lieutenant 4-2-2 (L. Glick), several members took Rescue 4-2 and joined several other Zone 4 companies at the Paradise Township municipal building for a confined space/collapse training simulation, as provided by Personal Protection Equipment.  Crews spent over five hours working on shoring up, searching, and clearing a collapse zone.  Crews experienced firsthand the difficulty of patient packaging and the slow and tedious work of working in a confined space.

 

 

 

Back to Back Accidents

March 13, 2008 – The alarm was struck for a vehicle accident with unknown injuries on Rt. 41.  Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived on location to find a two vehicle accident.  Chief 4-2 established ÒCommand 4-2) and incoming crews began hazard control and patient assessment when Chief 4-2-2 (McGowan) encountered a second vehicle accident with blocking and injuries at the intersection of Rt. 41 and Rt. 741.  After controlling hazards at the first scene, Rescue 4-2 redirected to the second accident, where Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) had established ÒRt. 741 CommandÓ.  Crews began vehicle stabilization and began patient assessment to prepare for the arrival of EMS.  Crews were in service for just over one hour.  Thanks to Squad 5-2 (Christiana) for their help with traffic control.

 

 

 

Accident with Entrapment

March 3, 2008 – The alarm was struck for a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Rt. 340 and New Holland Rd.  Assisting Station 4-4 (Intercourse), Rescue 4-2 hit the streets immediately and arrived behind Brush 4-4.  Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) was on location and began directing crews to handle vehicle stabilization and extrication.  The rescue crew made short order of the extrication process and handed the patient over to awaiting EMS crews.

 

 

 

 

Motorcycle Accident

March 3, 2008 – The slight increase in temperature brings out the motorcycles, and unfortunately the accidents as well.  In the afternoon, the Gap Volunteers were dispatched to the intersection of Rt. 30 and Bellevue Ave. for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.  Chief 4-2-2 (McGowan) assumed command and with a delayed EMS response, EMTs onboard the Rescue began patient assessment, while the remainder of the crew handled hazards. 

 

 

Working Dwelling in Parkesburg

March 1, 2008 – The Engine, Truck, and Rescue were dispatched Saturday afternoon to assist the Parkesburg Fire Co (CC28) with a working dwelling fire in the 7000 block of Cemetary Road.  Upon arriving on location, the Truck crew assisted with ventilation and checking for fire extension, while the Rescue crew set up RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) and the Engine crew reported to manpower staging.  The fire was quickly brought under control and all Gap units were released a short time later.  Thanks to Engine 4-7-1 (Paradise Fire Co.) for standing by at our station and covering our area during this call.

 

 

Congratulations to Loren & Bev

The response time of Captain 4 (Loren Glick) has been forever altered to due circumstances that took place this past weekend.  Loren and his wife Bev were married on February 23, 2008 in a ceremony that many of our volunteers attended.  Welcome to the family Bev, hopefully Loren has already explained the joys of being married to a volunteer firefighter!   We wish the best of luck to the happy couple!

 

 

Chimney Fire in Bart Township

February 27, 2008 – Assisting Station 5-1 (Bart), Truck 4-2 was called to the scene in the 1700 Block of Mine Rd.  Chief 5-1 arrived on location and was advised of heavy smoke in the attic of the SFD.  Engine 5-1-1  arrived and made entry into the house to check for extension and extinguish the fire.  Truck 4-2 arrived and set up the aerial to knock down any fire in the chimney.  Crews were on location for just over 45 minutes.

 

 

 

Car Fire on Middle St.

February 22, 2008 – In the early morning, the alarm was struck for a vehicle fire on Middle Street.  Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) arrived on location to find one vehicle well off, with a dwelling as an exposure, just 12 feet away.  Engine 4-2-2 hit the streets with a full crew and made short order of extinguishing the fire.  Rescue 4-2 was not too far behind and prepared to ventilate the structure, and check for extension.  Crews were on location for one hour.

 

 

 

Big Truck Over Embankment

February 22, 2008 – Inclement weather had crews respond to a vehicle accident with unknown injuries at the 4800 block of Newport Rd.  Chief 4-2 arrived on location to find one crane truck over an embankment, nearly into a creek.  Rescue 4-2 arrived on location and began patient assessment and primary vehicle stabilization.  Due to the location of the vehicle, as well as the large/heavy nature of the vehicle, special assistance was needed.  Newport Rd. had to be shut down for several hours and crews were on location for nearly eight hours.  An extra special thanks to NullÕs Towing and their technicians for their help uprighting and stabilizing the vehicle.

 

 

 

 

 

Vehicle Accident with Reported Entrapment

February 12, 2008 –The alarm was struck for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Rts. 41 & 741 in the mid-afternoon on Tuesday.  Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) arrived on location to find a two-vehicle accident with no injuries.  The accident was cleared within minutes and the incident was closed.  Immediately following the incident, the alarm for a vehicle accident with entrapment was struck again at the intersection of Rts. 41 and 30.  Captain 4-2-4 (L. Glick) reported confinement and set up command while the Rescue crew arrived to assess and package the patient for EMS.  Crews were on location for under 30 minutes.

 

 

Chester County Dwelling Fire

February 6, 2008 –Truck 4-2 was dispatched early Wednesday morning to assist the Parkesburg FC (CC 28) with a dwelling fire on W. 2nd Ave in Parkesburg Borough.  Deputy 28 (Reynolds) arrived to find a working basement fire with extension into the first floor.  The Truck crew assisted with extinquishment, salvage, and overhaul.  While crews were still on location, a 2nd dwelling fire was dispatched on a neighboring street.  Rescue 4-2 was dispatched on the assignment, but was recalled after it was found to just be smoke from the first fire.  Crews were in service for 2 1/2 hours.

 

 

Truck 4-2 Assists New Holland with Church Fire

February 2, 2008 – On Saturday afternoon, the Truck was dispatched to assist Station 3-9 as part of an assignment for a fire at Petra Christian Fellowship.  A fire was found in and contained to one room.  The Truck and Squad crews assisted with ventilation, salvage, overhaul, and clean up.  Crews were on the scene for about two hours.

 

 

 

 

Two Reported Dwelling Fires in Three Days

January 28, 2008 – Early Monday evening, just prior to our weekly training night, the volunteers were dispatched for a dwelling fire on Circle Drive in Crestwood Estates.  Chief 4-2(Kurtz) arrived on location to find a faulty furnace that was causing a burning smell.  The assignment was quickly downgraded and all units returned to station.  Gap was assisted by Kinzers FC (4-5), White Horse FC (4-9), Christiana FC (5-2), and Paradise FC (4-7).

January 26, 2008 – Station 4-2 was dispatched to assist Station 5-1 (Bart) with a dwelling fire in the 100 block of Quaker Church Rd.  The Truck, Engine, and Rescue all went enroute within minutes of dispatch.  Deputy 5-1(Lefever) arrived to find that there had been a small fire in the wall behind a stove.  The fire appeared to be out, so the assignment was downgraded to Station 5-1 and Truck 4-2.  Units on the scene opened up the wall to check for extension of the fire.  After finding no extension and cleaning up, all units were released.

 

 

Brush Fire

January 25, 2008 – The alarm was struck for the 600 block of Amish Rd. for a brush fire.  Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) arrived on location to find a working 100Õx100Õ cornfield fire.  Engine 4-2-2 deployed several handlines and made short order of extinguishing the fire.  Crews were on location for just under 30 minutes locating and putting out hotspots.

 

 

 

Indoor Search Training

January 21, 2008 – Inclement weather and an administration meeting couldnÕt keep the members from honing their skills.  Led by Engineer 4-2B (J. Kennedy) and Engineer 4-2C (I. Zook), an interior maze was set up to help several members work on their interior searching skills.  Orientating themselves, as well as some confined areas were introduced, as well as rescuing a victim and proper radio-reporting techniques were reviewed. 

 

 

 

Chimney Fire on Simmontown Road

January 20, 2008 – Crews were dispatched to the 900 block of Simmontown Road for a report of a chimney fire.  Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) arrived on location to find heavy smoke coming from the chimney.  Truck 4-2 arrived moments later and raised the aerial to begin locating the fire.  Engine 4-2-2 arrived, and put a handline into service, while searching for extension in the building.  Tanker 5-2-1 (Christiana) arrived and established a water supply.  The chimney blockage was isolated and the fire was extinguished within 30 minutes.  Crews were on location for just over two hours for ventilation and overhaul.

 

 

 

First Snow and Vehicle Over Embankment

January 17, 2008 – During the first substantial snowfall during the mid-day, the Gap Volunteers were called to assist Station 4-9 (White Horse) for a vehicle accident with entrapment.  Crews arrived to find one vehicle over an embankment with confinement.  Crews made short order of the extrication and assisted with packaging the patient for EMS.

Assisting 5-2 With a Vehicle Accident with Tractor Trailor

January 15, 2007 – The alarm was struck for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer on Rt. 41 in Station 5-2Õs (Christiana) first due.  Crews arrived to find several vehicles involved.  Rescue 4-2 responded and on-board EMTs began patient assessment, while the remainder of the crew was joined by Squad 4-2 and began fluid control, vehicle depowering and stabilization.  Crews were on location for under two hours.

 

 

 

Motorcycle Accident Hits Close to Home

January 8, 2008 – During the mid-afternoon, the alarm went out for a vehicle accident involving a motorcycle.  Chief 4-2-2 (McGowan) arrived on scene to find a motorcycle versus mini-van.  Rescue 4-2 arrived in short-order, with EMTs assessing the patients and controlling hazards.  Sky Flight Care was requested, with a landing zone set up by Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger), and the patient was flown to a trauma center.  This particular incident affects several of our firefighters, who were friends with the local youth involved.  Crews were on location for several hours assisting the police with traffic control.

 

 

Truck 4-2 Goes To New Holland

December 9, 2007 – The alarm was struck at Chevrolet dealer for a building fire.  Assisitng Station 3-9 (New Holland), Truck 4-2 arrived on location and set up the aerial ladder on Side ÒCÓ and joined the crew from Truck 3-9 to prepare for vertical ventilation, if needed.  Gap crews remained on location until the fire was placed under control and overhaul operations began.

 

 

 

Assisting Chester County With A 2nd Rescue

November 28, 2007 – Assisting Chester County Station 28 (Parkesburg), Rescue 4-2 was dispatched as the 2nd rescue for a vehicle accident at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Moscow Rd.  Crews assisted with extrication, and patient packaging.  Crews were on location for under one hour.

Overturned Tractor Trailer

November 14, 2007 – In the still of the night, the Gap Volunteers were dispatched to the intersection of Hoffmeier Rd. and Rt. 30 for a vehicle accident involving a tractor trailor.  Chief 4-2-2 (Kurtz) arrived on location to find one tractor trailer that ran over a bank, spilling its load.  With no injuries present, but road blockage, crews remained on location for several hours while Nulls Towing took care of uprighting the trailer and taking care of the spilled cargo.

 

 

 

 

Vehicle Accident with Entrapment

November 12, 2007 – Crews were dispatched to the intersection of New Holland Rd. and Rt. 340 for a vehicle accident with entrapment.  Rescue 4-2 hit the streets with several rescue personnel and arrived on location to find several patients trapped.  Crews immediately began vehicle stabilization, patient assessment and extrication.  Station 4-2 crews were on location for just under one hour.

 

 

 

Vehicle vs. Pole

November 11, 2007 – In the wee-hours of the morning, the Rescue and Squad were called out for a vehicle accident standby.  The fireboard advised that there was a report of a vehicle accident with wires across the roadway.  Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) arrived on location to find one vehicle vs. a utility pole, with no one present.  Crews stabilized the vehicle and managed fluids on the roadway, and provided lighting to allow the State Police to conduct their investigation.  Crews were on location for one hour.

 

 

 

Salisbury Township Farm Rescue

November 10, 2007 – The report came in the mid-afternoon for a farm rescue in the 100 block of Blank Road.  Engine 4-9-1 arrived on location to set up Command and confirmed one patient entangled in a piece of farm equipment.  Crews assisted with detangling the patient, and preparing the patient for transport.  Patient was extricated just over 30 minutes. 

 

 

Assisting Station 27 on the Dwelling

November 9, 2007 – The tones were struck to have Truck 4-2 assist Chester County Station 27 (Cochranville) with the R.I.T. (Rapid Intervention Team) assignment.  Station 4-2 crews were on location for just over an hour standing by to help our Chester County brothers.

 

 

 

Vehicle Accident on Strasburg Rd.

November 8, 2007 – The Gap Volunteers were dispatched to the 5300 Block of Lincoln Hwy. for vehicle accident standby.  Crews arrived on location to find one patient on the roadway, with a vehicle over the embankment.  EMTs on the Rescue began patient assessment and stabilization, while the remainder of the crews assisted with vehicle stabilization to prevent any further movement of the vehicle.  Crews were on location for one hour.

 

 

 

 

Lincoln Hwy. Crash

November 7, 2007 – A multi-vehicle accident on Lincoln Hwy. summoned the Gap Volunteers once again.  Rescue 4-2 arrived on location, under the command of Chief Engineer 4-2 (Slaymaker), and began patient assessment and vehicle stabilization of the vehicles.  Several patients were on location and treated.  Crews were on location for over 90 minutes dealing with traffic control and fluid control.

Beiler) arrived on location to find a two-vehicle accident with no entrapment, but road blocking.  Rescue 4-2 responded with several rescue personnel and EMTs.  While on-board EMTs began patient assessment, other rescue personnel tending to vehicle stabilization and excessive fluid control.  Truck 4-2 responded, bringing additional rescue personnel and EMTs.  Squad 4-2 responded to help mitigate traffic.  Crews were on location for under one hour.

 

 

 

 

House Fire in Chester County

October 27, 2007 – A dwelling alarm was struck on the evening of the 27th.  Conflicting reports, put the location of the call in Salisbury Township.  However, Chief 4-2 (Kurtz) traveled just beyond the County Line to find a small fire on a deck on side ÒalphaÓ of the dwelling.  Updating the location with dispatch brought the other appropriate response, including Chester County Station 26 (Atglen) and Station 28 (Parkesburg); Station 5-2 (Christiana) and Station 4-9 (White Horse) out of Lancaster County.  Engine 4-2-2 was the first apparatus on location and began suppression and searching for extension.  Truck 4-2 arrived on location and immediately began utility control and ventilation.  Station 4-2 crews were on location for about one hour.

 

 

 

 

Vehicle Accident with Confinement

October 23, 2007 – The Gap Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Rt. 41 for a vehicle accident with entrapment.  Deputy 4-2 (T. Wenger) arrived on location to find a vehicle into a bank with one patient confined.  Rescue 4-2 arrived on location and immediately began vehicle stabilization extrication the patient.  On-board EMTs assisted with patient packaging and assessment.   Crews were on location for under 45 minutes.

 

 

 

Vehicle Accident with Fluid Control

October 22, 2007 – The alarm was struck to the 5300 block of Lincoln Hwy. for spill control, summoning the Rescue and Squad.  Incoming units found a two-car accident, with fluids on the roadway.  Crews handled fluid control and hazards.  Crews cleared within 30 minutes. 

 

 

 

Fire Prevention

October 21, 2007 – October is Fire Prevention Month.  Various crew members have been visiting local schools to educate the schoolchildren on fire prevention and fire safety.  In somewhat of a unique fashion, we have begun to include the Amish schoolhouses as well.  Utilizing our grand-purchased laptop computer, projector and generator, crews have been supplementing the elementary schools in the area with our Amish neighbors.
