The Gap Fire Company has turned 100 in 2010! We will be celebrating this milestone with an event on Saturday, September 25th, 2010, and you are invited! Books, tee shirts, and patches commemorating the anniversary will be available for purchase. We now have 2011 calendars for sale, as produced by TheFireWithin.org who proudly support volunteer firefighters nationwide. Shortly after 1 PM this afternoon, Station 4-2 was dispatched for an outbuilding fire at 5620 Umbletown Rd in Salisbury Township. On Tuesday afternoon several members of the rescue committee left for Pierce Manufacturing in Appleton Wisconsin for final inspection on the new rescue 42. Over the next several days the crew spent countless hours going over the rescue with the helpful staff from Pierce. The Gap Volunteers brought Truck 4-2 to Salisbury Elementary School to participate in the Salisbury Township Historical Society's annual balloon lift-off event. Crews demonstrated several high-angle belaying techniques for the crowd, and finished the night by constructing a trolley system, allowing local children to "zip line" in a small area at the school. On Saturday afternoon, the Company was alerted to a vehicle accident with entrapment at the intersection of Rt. 30 and Mt. Vernon Rd. Chief 4-2-2 (K. At 4:36am, Truck 4-2 was alerted to Paradise Township to assist the Strasburg Fire Company (5-10) for a motel fire at The Red Caboose Motel at 312 Paradise Lane. At 3:15 PM on Sunday, Rescue 4-2 was dispatched to 879 Strasburg Rd in Paradise Township to assist the Kinzer Fire Company (4-5) for a vehicle accident with entrapment.
