The Gap Fire Company will be mailing out our 2012 Membership Drive letters shortly. The Fire Company depends on the donations of the community for the majority of our operating expenses. We are a non-profit volunteer organization, and all donations are tax deductible. We also offset our operating expenses by holding fundraisers and applying for grant assistance as well. Late Wednesday afternoon, while some of the crew was still at the station from an earlier call, Rescue 4-2 was dispatched to assist Christiana Fire Company (5-2) with an accident with entrapment. At 0424 hours Lancaster County Wide Communications dispatched the first alarm assignment for a house fire in the 100 block of Old Dam Rd in Bart Township. The first alarm consisted of units from: Bart Township, Gap, Paradise, Quarryville, Christiana, and Christiana Ambulance. At 13:22 hours Rescue 42 was dispatched as the second due Rescue to the intersection of Rt 30 and N Vintage Rd in Paradise Township for a Vehicle Accident with Entrapment. This evening, the Gap Volunteers participated in training with two of our mutual-aid companies, Liberty New Holland and Blue Ball Fire Company. Crews reviewed vehicle stabilization and hazard control, as well as reviewing more advanced techniques. Newer members were able to handle a scenario from onset to final patient extrication.
